Cranberry Township did not lack summer events. It lacked a place where those events could build a rhythm.
The Armstrong Great Lawn opened at the Municipal Center in May 2025 with an explicit purpose: create a pedestrian-friendly shared space that could function as a traditional town center. The Municipal Center had already served as Cranberry’s de facto Main Street, receiving approximately 264,000 visitors each year. Still, scheduled appointments and municipal services do not create a town square by themselves.
Repeated habits do. A Friday market. A movie after dark. A themed event that brings people back to the same address for a different reason.
That is what changed in 2026. If you are looking for things to do in Cranberry Township this summer, the useful answer is no longer a scattered list. It is a recurring schedule centered on the Great Lawn, with Community Park serving as the township’s complementary performance venue.
The Friday Anchor
The Cranberry Town Square Market gives the Great Lawn its weekly structure. It runs from 3 to 7 p.m. on Fridays through September 4, combining produce, prepared food, crafts, drinks and live music at one location.
That mix matters. A seasonal center needs more than a few large annual events. It needs a reason to return even when there is no headline attraction.

Current participants include Four Soils Farm, Oakman Farm, Pittsburgh Pastures, Sheets Apiaries and Simoni Sourdough. Prepared-food options listed by the township include LVIV European Kitchen, Kilimanjaro Flavour, The Saucy African, Franklin Inn Mexican Restaurant and Ray’s Pizza Food Trailer.
Brochachos Salsa, Arsenal Cider House, La Vigneta Winery and McLaughlin Distillery are also on the current roster. Participation can vary by week, so check the township’s market page before building an evening around one vendor.
The practical value is simple: Friday no longer requires separate plans for shopping, dinner and live music. The market gives those plans a common starting point.
Movies Turn the Lawn Into an Evening Destination
Markets establish frequency. Movies extend the lawn’s role beyond Friday afternoons.
Cranberry Township moved its outdoor movie series to the Armstrong Great Lawn in 2026. That relocation is stronger evidence of a working town center than the lawn’s opening ceremony alone. The space now has different uses on different days, including programming after dark.
The remaining free screenings are scheduled to begin at 9 p.m.:

The current concert and movie schedule lists Zootopia 2 for August 12. Because an earlier township release used a different title, confirm the current listing before attending.
The larger point is not the film selection. Moving the series created another repeatable reason to use the Municipal Center grounds. The lawn can now carry a Friday market, a Wednesday movie and municipal special events without relying on one major festival to define the season.
The Most Useful Three-Day Stretch

Wednesday, July 22
Frozen begins at 9 p.m. on the Armstrong Great Lawn. This is the clearest version of the new routine: a familiar municipal address used as an outdoor gathering place after normal business hours.
Thursday, July 23
Christmas in July runs from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Cranberry Township Waterpark. Scheduled activities include games, ornament crafts, prizes, a photo booth and visits from Mr. and Mrs. Claus.
That evening, Neon Bridges performs at 7 p.m. at the Rotary Amphitheater in Community Park. The regular concert series is free, and the Cranberry Rotary Clubs offer food and drinks for purchase.
Friday, July 24
Christmas in July moves to the Town Square Market from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Great Lawn. Paulette’s Band is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m.
This three-day sequence is more useful than a long attractions list because it shows the emerging division of labor. The Great Lawn handles the recurring town-square routine. The waterpark supports its own seasonal programming. Community Park remains the setting for larger performances.
Community Park Is the Second Room
Calling the Great Lawn Cranberry’s center does not make Community Park less important. The two spaces now serve different purposes.
The lawn provides frequency and a recognizable weekly anchor. Community Park supplies the Rotary Amphitheater, concert nights and room for larger celebrations.
That role was clear during Cranberry Summer Nights from July 9 through July 11. The event marked the evolution of Community Days during the Cranberry Foundation’s 50th-anniversary year. It retained familiar elements such as the car show, Cranberry Chase 5K, Lions Club breakfast, amusement rides, local vendors, live music and fireworks.
Summer Nights has concluded for 2026, but its location helps explain the township’s current arrangement. Community Park remains the large-event venue. The Great Lawn fills the weeks between those larger dates.
The remaining Community Park concerts include:
- July 23 at 7 p.m.: Neon Bridges
- August 1 at 6 p.m.: S’Wearing Hats
- August 13 at 7 p.m.: The Extractions
That is a practical two-location system rather than competition between venues. Residents can learn the pattern once and use it throughout the season.
August Keeps the Pattern Going
The schedule continues after the concentrated July 22 to 24 stretch.
The Cranberry Township Police Bike Rodeo is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Municipal Center on August 1. Cranberry CUP also takes place that weekend, with S’Wearing Hats performing at the Rotary Amphitheater at 6 p.m. on August 1.
The first full week of August brings Lilo & Stitch to the Great Lawn on August 5. The Passavant Hospital Foundation Family Wellness 5K Run/Walk follows on August 8 at UPMC Passavant Sportsplex at Graham Park.
The next week pairs Zootopia 2 on August 12 with The Extractions at Community Park on August 13. The Town Square Market returns on August 14, followed by markets on August 21 and August 28.
This sequence is the strongest case for the post’s central claim. Cranberry’s summer center is behavioral rather than strictly geographic. The Great Lawn supplies the recurring habit, while nearby public venues widen the calendar without breaking that habit apart.
A New Dining Option to Watch
One current opening adds another possible stop to the summer schedule. Shake Shack has announced plans to open at 20406 Route 19 in the Streets of Cranberry on July 28 at 10 a.m. Reported daily hours are 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Since opening dates can change, confirm the location’s status before making it part of an event-night plan. Cranberry Township’s broader business update also lists Kyuramen, Hibachi Express, Shoku Next Door and Wingstop among businesses that have recently opened or are ready to open. That category does not confirm that every listed business is operating, so check directly before visiting.
New restaurants broaden the options around the calendar. They are not what makes the Great Lawn a town center. That distinction belongs to recurring public use.
Check the Calendar Before You Go
A few published details deserve a final check:
- The market’s season summary says there is no market on August 7, while its music list includes an August 7 performer. This guide does not recommend an August 7 market visit because the township’s information conflicts.
- Market vendors can change from week to week.
- The current detailed movie schedule lists Zootopia 2 on August 12, but an earlier release used a different title.
- Event details may change, so use the township’s special-events page and current calendar before leaving home.
Cranberry’s Center Is Now on the Calendar
A town center does not become meaningful because a project is complete. It becomes meaningful when people know what happens there and when to return.
The Armstrong Great Lawn now has that pattern. Friday belongs to the Town Square Market. Selected Wednesdays bring outdoor movies. The Municipal Center hosts seasonal programs, while Community Park carries concerts and major celebrations.
